Facility Update: City of Calgary Water Restrictions

September 22, 2024 UPDATE:

LBCA Showers are back on! Thank you to our visitors and guests for your cooperation and patience.

City of Calgary Update: Today is the day. We have rescinded Stage 4 water restrictions immediately.

The feeder main has been filled, the water quality tested, and we have successfully reconnected it to the rest of the water distribution system.

We understand how difficult and disruptive these past four months have been, and we couldn’t have made all the necessary repairs without all of your sacrifice and support.

To the residents of Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Tsuut’ina Nation and Strathmore, THANK YOU. ❤️

The LBCA is following the City of Calgary guidance for businesses during Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions: “Businesses are being asked to find ways to aim for a 25% reduction in daily water use during the restriction.”

Effective August 26, 2024:

  • Visitors are encouraged not to shower at the LBCA or to limit showers at the LBCA to a maximum of 3 minutes.
  • LBCA ice floods will be carried out with reduced water when possible
  • Some LBCA ice floods will be cancelled when safe to do so(stick & puck, leisure skate, etc.)

July 2, 2024 UPDATE: Indoor water-saving measures have eased for residents and businesses. Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions remain in place. Businesses can resume normal indoor water use. This includes indoor pools and car washes, which had previously been asked to close. Therefore, LBCA showers are on and normal ice floods have resumed. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the restriction.

The LBCA is following the City of Calgary guidance regarding water restrictions. “Businesses using large volumes of non-essential water, such as laundromats and car washes, are being asked to reduce water use”.

LBCA ice floods will be carried out with reduced water and showers will be turned off until the restriction is lifted. All bookings will continue as scheduled.
