LBCA Water Reduction
The City of Calgary is moving forward with planned reinforcement repairs to support the stability of the current Bearspaw South Feeder Main (BSFM). This work will target up to nine segments of the existing pipe to support operations and stability. The feeder main will be taken out of service to complete construction. Outdoor water restrictions and indoor water conservation will be in effect starting March 9, 2026. During this time, it’s critical that all Calgarians and the surrounding regions use less water.
Therefore, beginning March 9, 2026:
- LBCA shower usage must be limited to a maximum of 3 minutes per person
- LBCA drop-in ice activities (stick & puck and leisure skate) will be carried out without a flood (unless the condition of the ice is unsafe)
- LBCA ice floods will be carried out with less water when safe to do so
- All bookings are scheduled to continue as planned.
The City asks all Calgarians to reduce their indoor water use by:
- Limiting showers to 3 minutes
- Run dishwashers and laundry only when full
- Flush only when necessary
