City-Wide Water Restrictions
The City of Calgary is reaching a major milestone on the new Bearspaw South Feeder Main: connecting it to the existing water system. While this work is underway, Calgary will rely mainly on a single water treatment plant running at full capacity to supply the city and parts of the region. As a result, all residents and businesses are being asked to reduce their water use.
City-wide Stage 4 water restrictions take effect November 4, and no outdoor water use will be permitted.
Therefore, beginning November 4, 2026:
- LBCA shower usage must be limited to a maximum of 3 minutes per person
- LBCA drop-in ice activities (stick & puck and leisure skate) will be carried out without a flood (unless the condition of the ice is unsafe)
- LBCA ice floods will be carried out with less water when safe to do so
- All bookings are scheduled to continue as planned.
The City asks all Calgarians to reduce their indoor water use by:
- Limiting showers to 3 minutes
- Run dishwashers and laundry only when full
- Flush only when necessary
