History, Values, Mission and Vision
Lake Bonavista Community Association was incorporated in February 1970, and for over 45 years has the Mission of Enhancing and Enriching the Quality of Community for Lake Bonavista Residents.
Led by a volunteer Board of Directors and professional staff of approximately 30, the association offers programs, activities, facility and ice rentals, and civic engagement for its residents and members.
Lake Bonavista Community Association (LBCA) is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Act of Alberta and as a charity, registered with the Canada Revenue Agency. The Lake Bonavista Community Association operates several weekly programs, and annual events, in addition to town hall meetings, adult and youth fitness, and children playtime activities. Inside the facility, one can find a ¾ NHL size ice rink, a smaller pleasure ice rink, basketball court and nets, fitness studio, and rental room. LBCA also has an active Civic Affairs Committee whose mandate is to liaise with the City of Calgary and developers on traffic and development issues to ensure Lake Bonavista residents can enjoy a safe and welcoming neighbourhood.
Affiliated organizations are the Better Business Bureau of Southern Alberta, the Federation of Calgary Communities, and the City of Calgary.
PLEASE NOTE – The Lake Bonavista Home Owners Association – HOA is a separate organization and not part of the Lake Bonavista Community Association.
The Lake Bonavista Community Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, managed and operated by staff and volunteers. The board is elected annually by its membership.
The Non-Profit Association operates a 65,000 square foot recreation complex offering social programs, sports programs, and physical fitness programs to everyone. The programs offered, the physical facilities available, and the business of LBCA is extensive, and the success of these activities is greatly dependant on the efforts of a large number of volunteers, the office staff, and building maintenance staff.

Community Description
Lake Bonavista is located in Calgary’s southeast and is bordered by Bonavista Downs to the east, Macleod Trail to the west and Anderson Road to the north. The community is just north of Fish Creek Park. Lake Bonavista is a primarily residential area, with development beginning in 1967. The area is also home to two man-made lakes, Lake Bonaventure and Lake Bonavista, which offer excellent recreation and relaxation opportunities for residents. The community is also close to Southland Shopping Centre as well as the Deerfoot Trail. Both public and separate schools can be found in the area.

We are operated by annually elected volunteer Board of Directors, assisted by a very large number of volunteers. Working along with them is a General Manager and staff.

Membership is available at a cost of $30 per family per year and is required for participation in community sponsored programs.

Our entrance signs to the Community are maintained by the Association through membership fees.

Delivery of our monthly newsletter "The Bugle" is delivered to all single family homes in Lake Bonavista, Bonaventure Estates and Bonavista Downs Communities.

The Board will be accountable to community residents and members, and will conduct its activities in a transparent manner consistent with Canadian values.
